It can be a little confusing at first, you might think that these two keywords are somehow related, but in fact, these two keywords are completely different and do completely different things.
A critical hit is an attack that triggers a critical hit, dealing critical damage and granting bonuses based on your stats.
Lucky hits have a chance to activate certain effects on skills, equipment, and passives. In addition to simply causing damage, each hit can also produce powerful effects. However, the elements of a lucky hit are a little more complicated than a critical hit.
On a critical hit, you basically only roll chance once when attacking an enemy. If yes, it's a critical hit; if not, it's not a critical hit.
If you're lucky, you can roll twice. The first time is the lucky hit rate, which depends on your attributes and skills (visible by turning on the advanced tooltip in the options), and the second time is the effect itself. In other words, the game first checks if a lucky hit will occur, and then checks if the effect of the lucky hit will be activated based on that probability.
For example, let's say you successfully use a skill and the chance of a lucky hit is 50%. In this example, assume that the effect occurs 40% of the time. In other words, 50% of 40 is 20, and the probability of a lucky hit triggering the effect is 20%.

Of course, if you don't have anything that relies on Lucky Hits, there's no point in getting Lucky Hits since nothing will trigger, but you can build around this stat and use Lucky Hits with stats and skills. If you increase the probability of acquisition, it becomes a very powerful tool. My rogue is a prime example, and thanks to the passive skills "Domination", "Ahlemest's Fortune", and "Wind of Rebirth" I'm able to trigger these effects fairly frequently, making it easier to clear out large groups.
